WHEN TO FORMAT?

HOW TO FORMAT?

MAKE SURE U HAVE BATTERY 70% CHARGED
TAKE OUT MMC(memory card) AND SWITCH OFF MOBILE
NOW PRESS "*" KEY , DIAL KEY (THAT IS GREEN KEY) AND "3" KEY AND HOLDING THESE BUTTON SWITCH ON YOUR MOBIL AND HOLD THEM TILL U GET A MESSAGE ON SCREEN "FORMATTING..."
THAT'S IT AFTER ITS COMPLETED THE PHONE IS JUST LIKE U GOT IT WHEN U PURCHASED IT.
PRECAUTIONS:
# REMEMBER TO MAKE BACKUP OF YOUR CONTACTS BEFORE YOU FORMAT , AS AFTER FORMATTING U WILL LOOSE THEM.
# BE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS 70% CHARGED
# BE SURE THE PHONE IS NOT OFF BY ANY REASON WHEN IT HAS STARTED FORMATTING PHONE, AS THIS WILL CORRUPT IT AND THEN WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT TO CUSTOMER CARE TO REINSTALL ALL SOFTWARES.

when in the standby mode press *#7370# and the phone will ask for the security code (12345 by default in Nokia S60 fones).Once the security code is entered it will complete the formatting process with a restart.now your phone is back to it's factory setting.

Please note that formatting the phone in these ways will wipe off the fone memory. So take a backup of all your important datas like sms, contacts etc. before attempting a format.you can take backup to your memory card also by going into
tools>memory card>backup phone memory.
Later you can restore the saved backup from the memory card.also note here that, though all the applications and data will be available after a restore you need to reinstall all the java programs.

There is another method for setting the phone to its factory settings by simply pressing *#7780# in the standby mode...it'll not affect the user data.
resetting a phone can rid you from slow downs....and use a fully charged battery before full-formatting your phone otherwise there may be chance of interruption in the formatting process which may damage your phone and then you'll need to visit the service center.

This will factory reset the wallet, and you will have to give it another code. Please type the code in while on the stand by screen. Note that you will lose all previously saved data in your wallet.

Hard Format :
Hard Format can be done if your phone is facing any of the problems mentioned below :
1. Blank screen. Phone unable to reboot.
2. Phone only able to boot-up to "Nokia" word screen.
3. Installed some program but not able to uninstall it after that.
4. Error messages such as "Child Installer" keeps popping-up.
Make sure cell battery is atleast 75% charged. If its not then you are putting your cell at risk. If its atleast 75% charged then do the following:
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (call answer) button, * button, and '3' button.
3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
4. When the message 'Formatting' appears on the screen, release all of the buttons.
The procedure takes some minutes (approx. 3-4) so dont panic.
Note that you shouldn't switch the phone off or remove the battery when performing either of these operations.
